Contact lenses

Contact lenses are a great way to improve your vision without having to wear glasses. Whether you wear them on a daily basis or are looking for a spectacle-free option for sports and leisure activities, we can prescribe, fit and supply the right contact lens to meet your needs.

Contact lens appointments & care

At Weygang Opticians, we offer a wide variety of contact lenses to suit your individual needs.

Whether you're looking for daily lenses, extended wear lenses, or even multifocal contact lenses for varifocal spectacle wearers, we have what you're looking for. There are now many options available to help provide people with clear vision at all distances regardless of age, making the possibilities truly endless.

We also offer a wide range of accessories to keep your lenses clean and healthy.

If you are new to contact lenses (or if you have been wearing them for years), we offer contact lens appointments to assess your vision and the health of your eyes then offer guidance on how to fit and care for them.

Eye examinations

The health of your eyes is important to you, so it's crucial to us that we deliver thorough eye examinations that test not only your sight but assess the full health of your eyes to ensure you enjoy your best possible vision.

Choosing the right type of contact lens

There are contact lenses designed for both single-use and re-use depending on your circumstances.

There are cosmetic contact lenses that can change your eye colour and even contact lenses that you can sleep in (if you so wish). We also supply a variety of rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses (i.e. hard contact lenses).

A large majority of contact lens wearers choose soft contact lenses. The most commonly worn varieties of soft contact lenses are:

Daily disposable contact lenses

Daily disposable lenses are a great option for those who want the convenience that comes with not having to worry about changing their contact lens solution every day. They're also ideal for occasional wear, such as for sports or social activities, but can be used full-time too if desired.

Although these types do cost more than reusable ones upfront, their ease of use makes them a popular choice.

Reusable contact lenses

These contact lenses, as the name implies, are designed for repeated use (i.e. when they are removed from the eye they are cleaned and stored in solution and then the same pair will be used the next time).

If you prefer wearing contact lenses instead of spectacles then reusables can work out being more cost-effective than daily disposables in the long run.

We are able to supply a wide range of reusables to cater for your needs and all at very reasonable prices. They are available for both myopic (short-sighted or minus) and hypermetropic/hyperopic (long-sighted or plus) spectacle prescriptions.

Toric lenses for astigmatism

A toric contact lens is one that specifically corrects for astigmatism. If there is minimal astigmatism present, generally we can compensate for it by fitting a standard contact lens. However, if there is clinically significant astigmatism present (or conversely if the vision gained with a standard contact lens is not satisfactory) then a toric contact lens will be required.

When it comes to torics, we are able to supply both daily disposables and reusables and are able to correct for both myopic (short-sighted or minus) and hypermetropic/hyperopic (long-sighted or plus) spectacle prescriptions.

Multifocal contact lenses

A multifocal contact lens is one that is designed to provide continuous clear vision at all distances (i.e. both near and far), much like a varifocal spectacle lens. We are able to supply both daily disposables and reusables and are able to correct for both myopic (short-sighted or minus) and hypermetropic/hyperopic (long-sighted or plus) spectacle prescriptions.
